Most defence games hand you a list: wave 8 is this many of these, from that direction. In The Last Defender there is no list. Each attack is bred from the survivors of the one before it.
Survivors breed the next wave
A genetic algorithm scores every enemy type by how well it did against your defences. Whatever got through comes back in greater numbers. Whatever died is dropped. Each new attack is a mutation of the last, built within the budget the game allows for that point in the run, so it grows without ever becoming a random pile of enemies.

You can read the adaptation
The swarm report is how you learn it back. It shows the traits that survived, the ones that were dropped and the ones being tried next, so you can see the adaptation and counter it. Lineages form, field Champions are crowned, and the whole line breaks when your defence ends it.
Information is earned
Knowing what is coming costs something:
- A seismometer shows which gates the next attack will hit and how big it is.
- A receiver names what is coming and where the Champion leads.
- A complete survey network gives you the exact countdown.
- No sensors, no warning.

Why it matters
Because the enemy answers what you built, no two runs attack the same way, and the strategy that won last time is the one the swarm is already adapting to. That is the loop we are building the whole game around.
